Emotional Management for Migrant Women

The "Emotional Management for Migrant Women" (EMMW) project aims to develop a training system focused on developing and managing emotional skills for migrant women, social workers, and NGO volunteers. The project recognizes the unique challenges faced by migrant women, who often experience double discrimination based on both their gender and migrant status. Migrant women are vulnerable to various forms of discrimination, mistreatment, and violence, and they may also face barriers to accessing healthcare and social services.

The project emphasizes the importance of emotional intelligence (EI) in helping migrant women overcome social obstacles and adapt better to their new environment. Emotional intelligence refers to the ability to effectively understand, regulate, and express emotions, as well as to recognize and respond to the emotions of others. By enhancing emotional management skills, the project aims to empower migrant women to cope with stress, reduce anxiety, improve their psychological well-being, and facilitate their cultural adaptation in the host country.

The training system developed by the project will address the needs of both migrant women and the professionals who work with them, including social workers and NGO volunteers. The training will focus on acquiring emotional skills and competences necessary to navigate and address the risk situations faced by migrant women. It will also promote the integration and inclusion of migrant women in the social and cultural fabric of the host country.

The specific objectives of the project include:

  1. Developing emotional skills in migrant women to help them regulate their emotional states and cope with their new situation.

  2. Reducing anxiety and stress experienced by migrant women through effective emotional management techniques.

  3. Enhancing cultural adaptation and reducing psychological distress among migrant women.

  4. Assisting social workers and NGO volunteers in helping migrant women identify and recognize their emotions.

  5. Equipping social workers and NGO volunteers with the knowledge and skills to manage and support the emotional well-being of migrant women.

  6. Addressing the fear of change that migrant women may experience during the adaptation process.

  7. Creating a comprehensive training system with tools and resources to support emotional management in migrant women.

  8. Disseminating the results of the training system to other institutions and organizations that can benefit from the project's outputs.

By focusing on emotional management and developing emotional skills, the project aims to empower migrant women, improve their overall well-being, and facilitate their integration into the host country. The project recognizes the importance of emotional intelligence in navigating the challenges of migration and seeks to provide practical support and resources for both migrant women and the professionals who work with them.
